About Crackiness Tester
The GLOBE Crackiness Tester consists of an arrangement to hold the test specimen at one of its ends, a roller to bend it over the mandrel while keeping it pressed against it, a lever pivoted at the axis of the mandrels, and a set of mandrels of specified diameters with an arrangement to fix them over a fixed pin.
The specimen holding arrangement has a flat grip which can be moved along a linear axis to enable mandrels of different diameters to be placed on the pivot pin and to keep the test specimen tangential to the outer surface of the mandrel on which it is being bent. The lever also carries the pressing roller and has a slot in which the center of the roller can be adjusted to ensure close contact of the roller with the outer face of the test specimen. The roller is mounted on two grease sealed ball bearings. The pin over which different mandrels are placed during the test is rigidly fixed on the base of the tester and also serves as the bending mandrel of the smallest size.
