About Quadrant Scale For GSM

The weight per unit area or grammage of any material in form of sheets is usually expresses as its GSM, that is its weight in grams per square metre of its area. It is one of the most important parameters to determine the quality of any paper. In addition to paper, it can also be used for evaluation of grammage of fabrics, coated fabrics, felt, plastic films and sheets, etc.

The GLOBE Quadrant Scale for GSM is designed to give the weight in grams of one square metre of any material in sheet form directly. It consists of a quadrant scale calibrated in GSM, fixed in a vertical plane on a rigid base having provision for leveling.

A pointer beam is pivoted on two jewel bearings at the centre of the scale. A sheet of known area is cut out after marking it with the help of the templates provided, and is suspended from one end of the pointer beam. The grammage is read directly against an anodized aluminium scale.

The apparatus is finished in shore blue matalic / black synthetic enamel painting and bright chrome plating to give it a corrosion resistant finish.
