About Air Porosity Tester

The GLOBEAir Porosity Tester for Parachute Fabrics consists of an angle iron table of size 1.2 m x 1.2 m x 0.9 m high made from heavy angle. Iron. The top of the table is made from laminated board.

The specimen is held between a sample holding device consisting of a hollow cylinder with a circular opening of 4 sq.cm. area, and a solenoid operated ring shaped holding disc having an opening equal to the opening in the hollow cylinder. The axis of the cylinder and ring coincide with each other. The solenoid and the holding ring are fixed on a bridge across the depth of the table so that the fabric being tested passes below the holding ring. The top surface of the hollow cylinder is just above the top face of the table to enable easy sliding of the fabric under test.

Superior Precision in Porosity Testing

Achieve accurate and repeatable measurements of material porosity with this tester, which utilizes ambient air and a well-defined sample area to assess air flow rate under adjustable pressure. Its factory calibration and compliance with ISI and ISO 9237 standards guarantee high credibility of test results, essential for textile and paper quality assurance.

User-Friendly and Safe Operation

Manual control switches on the control panel make operation intuitive, while safety features like over-pressure relief protect both operator and specimen. Accessories such as gaskets and sample clamps simplify specimen preparation, and the air-tight sealing ensures consistent measurement conditions every time.

FAQs of Air Porosity Tester:

Q: How is the air porosity test conducted using this instrument?

A: The test is performed by placing a sample (textile, paper, or nonwoven) on the defined test area using the sample clamps and gaskets. Controlled air pressure is applied, and the instrument measures the air flow rate through the material, following ISO 9237 standards. The panels manual switches are used to regulate the pressure and flow.

Q: What materials and sample sizes are compatible with this air porosity tester?

A: The tester is designed for textiles, fabrics, nonwovens, and paper. It accommodates specimen sizes of 100 x 100 mm, with a defined sample test area of 38.3 mm diameter, making it suitable for most industry-standard samples.

Q: When should the tester be recalibrated or maintained?

A: The Air Porosity Tester is factory calibrated. However, periodic calibration verification and maintenance are recommended according to your laboratorys quality protocols or regulatory requirements, especially after extensive use or if performance anomalies are observed.

Q: Where can this air porosity tester be used effectively?

A: This device is ideal for quality control laboratories, textile and paper manufacturing units, export inspection agencies, and research institutions requiring precise porosity measurements under controlled environmental conditions (humidity up to 85% RH, temperature 10C40C).

Q: What is the operational process and power requirement for the unit?

A: The tester operates on standard 220V, 50Hz electric power. Position the sample, secure it with the clamps and gasket for an airtight setting, and use the manual switches to start the test. Airflow is automatically measured and displayed under the set pressure conditions.

Q: How does this tester benefit manufacturers and exporters?

A: By delivering precise porosity data in compliance with international standards (ISO 9237), manufacturers and exporters can ensure product quality, fulfill buyer specifications, and support product claims, minimizing returns and enhancing customer confidence.
